San Francisco Conference Feb 2009

October 20th, 2009 Posted in Newsletter

It’s that time of the year again, and I have realised that I have not kept in touch for a year! There is so much to say where do I start? There is so many first time experience for me

Well let’s start chronologically, about Feb to March this year, I had for the first time cross the continent and visited USA, yes it took me long enough and the flight took long enough too… What was the big lure that I couldn’t resist? My dearest sister was pregnant (first child), and I wanted to visit New York of course to see Broadway and Fashion Ave, and visit I did plus shopping too!  I even visited Dr Stephen Holt’s office in New Jersey and his manufacturing facility too which was impressive..

After which I visited San Francisco to attend my first ever Aromatherapy Conference for Cancer and Degenerative Diseases organised by Dr Kurt Schnaubelt and the rest of the team from Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy, it was indeed an enlightening experience to hear from so many practitioners of aromatherapy, doctors, nurses, naturopathic physicians, chinese physicians, energy workers, healers, researchers and farmers who use aromatherapy in their clinical settings in hospitals and clinics alike, we also heard information from researches and profiles about new oils that were discovered.  Biggest highlight for me was to see and learn from the most esteemed Dr Anne-Marie Giaud Robert who also shared generously with us about her treatments with aromatherapy in cancer therapy.  Dr Robert is an Oncology practitioner who besides sending her patients for the conventional methods of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, she also combines issue of essential oils during their treatment and post treatment period.  She followed the cases for a 10 year study and produced elegant results of how essential oils can actually increase mortality rate by 30% for the 3rd and 4th stage patients.  It was really amazing to see the oils information presented in such a scientific way in such diverse array of practitioners and researchers a like.  I met with Mark Webb Author of the Bush Sense from Australia who shared about Australian oils, Peta and John Day from Perth Australia, who presented information about a relatively new oil called Frangiona (which is rather close to Niaouli in terms of smell and properties if you ask me) of course Master Jeffrey Yuen who’s words of wisdom never seem to fail to shake up the room and Dr Ted Gieger who wrote the Sweet Smell of Success who is also an Anastesiologist himself.
